DIANA KUNAS-BITTLE Obituary

Diana Kunas-Bittle, 43, of Murphysboro, passed away quickly at 3:40 a.m. Monday, December 26, 2016, in the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, from what was determined to be strep sepsis. She was born January 4, 1973 in Chicago, the daughter of Louie Kunas. Diana combined families with Anthony "Tony" Sean Bittle on July 23, 2005 in Carbondale. The ceremony was held on their property in Carbondale, on a very hot and sweltering day. With the help of family and friends it was truly a fun day that many will remember. Diana is survived by her children, Isis Kunas of Hampshire, Louie Donald Bittle, Rudy George Bittle both of Carbondale; one step son, Riley Morgan Bittle of Carbondale; two sisters, Amie (Chuck) Leucht, Myra Kunas (Ira Brooker), and one brother, Lyle Kunas. She is preceded in death by an infant brother, George Michael Kunas. Diana studied psychology at SIU-Carbondale and had hoped to complete the few hours left for her degree. She was employed most recently by Aisin Manufacturing in Marion and previously by the Southern Illinoisan. Diana was one of the very few who enjoyed the monotony of work in a factory. She reveled in being able to do quality work while being lost in her thoughts without interruptions for hours on end. As a voracious reader she would use her time behind the machine to consider all that she had read. She was a member of the St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Murphysboro, where she attended with Tony and her boys. Dee's kiddos were her greatest joy and accomplishment. All the way from her grown daughter, Isis, to little Rudy. The kids brought light to her life and she touched so many lives in ways she could have never imagined. From family to friends including those in the local music scene, caring community, and hot rod and cafe racing lifestyle - our loss is indescribable. Funeral services for Diana Kunas-Bittle will be at 11:00 a.m. in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home of Cobden, on Saturday, December 31, 2016, with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. and until the service hour at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2016 in the funeral home in Cobden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Center of SIU or the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder at Southern Illinois University. Diana and I had lost touch over the years. She and I were friends in grade school. She introduced me to so many things I love today Dr Who and Bloom County being the top two. She taught me how much fun it is to be yourself in a time when we were all worried about fitting in. I'm sorry we lost touch as childhood friends tend to do. My deepest condolences to her family. She was one of a kind.
