Edwin Deackman Obituary
Edwin H. Deackman, 82, of Huntley, IL, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley. Born December 30, 1942, in Elgin, IL, the son of Herman and Elfrieda (Mixdorf) Deackman.
Edwin was a lifelong farmer who dearly loved his family, farm, his friends and anything to do with agriculture.
Ed lived and worked on his family farm in Huntley for over seven decades. He loved working on his Allis-Chalmers tractors and anything mechanical. He had a wealth of knowledge about farming and loved to share it along with many wonderful memories with his friends and caregivers and anyone who stopped by for a cheerful visit.
Ed was known for his generous heart, and if you were his friend, you had a loyal friend for life.
He also worked for Metra Railroad and retired in 2012 after 12 years of faithful service.
Edwin was preceded in death by his father, Herman, mother, Elfrieda (Mixdorf); sisters, Marjorie, and Dorothea (Deackman) Gustafson; and an infant brother, Wilbert.
Graveside services were held at Union Cemetery, Union, IL.
We would like to thank Suncrest Hospice and the Doctors and medical care team at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley for their exceptional care and kindness given to Edwin.
