Elsie Hjelm Obituary

Elsie L. Hjelm Funeral services for Elsie L. Hjelm, 85, of Sawyer, Mich., formerly a longtime resident of the Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect area, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. The Rev. Theodore Olsen will officiate. Born May 18, 1918, in Chicago, the daughter of Gustaf and Signe (nee Eriksson) Hellgren, she died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Brighton Gardens of Hoffman Estates. Burial will be Monday in Riverside Cemetery, Chikaming Township, Mich. Mrs. Hjelm was a charter and longtime member of the Arlington Heights Evangelical Free Church. She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Charles) Long of Spring, Texas, and Barbara (Thomas) Turnbaugh of West Dundee; grandchildren, Kristie, Michael, Tracy and Matthew Long, and Katie, Sarah, Melissa and Mark Turnbaugh; and her sisters, Mary Rose (Alvin) Richards of Hixson, Tenn., and Margaret (Karl) Lachler of Sawyer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reynold H. Hjelm in 2001, and her brother, Arthur Reynold Hellgren. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Harbert Community Church, 6444 Harbert Road, P.O. Box 197, Harbert, MI 49115.
