Emil Hanson Obituary

Emil H. Hanson Visitation for Emil H. Hanson, 93, of Joliet, formerly of Toston, Mont., for 21 years and Norridge for 34 years, will be from 3 p.m. until the time of services at 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg. Interment is private. Born Nov. 27, 1911, in Chicago, he died Monday, April 4, 2005, at Sunnyhill Nursing Home in Joliet. Emil had worked as a newspaper pressman for the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times and many Chicago neighborhood newspapers. He was a member of Acacia Park Lutheran Church and was a minor league baseball player for the Chicago White Sox in 1932. He was the husband of Edna (nee Amour), whom he married Aug. 10, 1932; father of the Rev. Richard J. (Barbara) Hanson of Peoria, Barbara (Don) Harrow of Hoffman Estates, Emil H. III (Diane) Hanson of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mabel (Joe) Wohlhart of Schaumburg; brother of the late Peggy and Faith; cherished grandfather of 18 and great-grandfather of 28; and uncle of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics of Illinois, 605 E. Willow, Normal, IL 61761. For information‚ (847)882-5580.
