Francis Spiess Obituary

Francis Spiess of Carol Stream The funeral for Francis Spiess, 84, a former longtime resident of Geneva will begin with a service at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (Route 38) Geneva, proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva, for celebration of a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in West Batavia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., with a liturgical service at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the funeral home. Born Oct. 10, 1922, in Yugoslavia, the son of Sebastian and Elisabeth (Miller) Spiess, he passed away Tuesday Jan. 16, 2007, at Johnson Health Care Center in Carol Stream surrounded by his family. Mr. Spiess retired in 1983 after 30 years of service as an accountant for the former Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He was fluent in many languages and enjoyed opera, classical music and reading. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Madeline (Teppert); sister, Anna (Robert) Lubke of Geneva; brothers-in-law, Jacob (Madeline) Teppert of Pennsylvania and Adolph (Susie) Teppert of Germany; sister-in-law, Theresa Klingler of New York; nieces, Patricia Lubke, Anna (John) Woodford, Mary (Mike) Meyer, Rita (Rick) Bebar, Rosemarie Teppert, Monika (Gerhardt) Strauss, Ingrid (Thomas) Blank and Ursula (Wolfgang) Teppert; nephews, Robert Lubke, Joe and Frank Klingler, and Ronald and Robert Teppert. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lorenz Spiess and sister-in-law, Kathy Spiess. Memorials to CNS Hospice 690 E. North Ave. Carol Stream, IL 60188, appreciated.
