GEORGE BRYSON Obituary

HUNTLEY - George Mitchell Bryson, 82, died peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2023, with his family by his side. George was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 6, 1940, to parents, George and Genevieve (nee Mitchell) Bryson. His family helped him find value in the importance of community and a strong Christian faith. He was raised in South Jersey, and it was there he developed a love for the outdoors. His love for the outdoors resulted in a degree in Forestry from Penn State University, where he was also accepted into the ROTC. After college, George married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Rudolph in August 1962 in Laurel Springs, New Jersey. They have shared a life together for over 60 years. Shortly after their marriage, George served two years of active duty in Korea and six years in the Army Reserves. After returning from Korea, George was employed by Weyerhaeuser and traveled the country with Beverly. Following the birth of their three children, George and Beverly planted roots in the Midwest, eventually settling in Hoffman Estates. The family became very involved in Church of the Cross, where George and Beverly volunteered 16 years to the Senior High Youth Group, leaving a lasting impact on the lives they touched there. George prioritized involvement in his children's lives and believed in giving opportunities to the youth of his community. Inspired by this, he and Beverly chaperoned 25 Hoffman Estates High School world-wide choir tours. After leaving his position as Executive at Aetna Plywood, Inc., he stayed in the wood products business until retirement. In his retirement, George and Beverly joined First Congregational Church of Dundee, where they have been members since. They also split their time between their home in Huntley and their cabin on Lake Champlain, Vermont, which has been in George's life since he was just eight years old. George also pursued many hobbies during retirement, including returning to his church choir, serving his community and its youth, and spending time with his eight grandchildren. George will be missed dearly by all who knew him, and remembered for his patriotism, his strong Christian faith, and his selfless generosity. George is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Bryson; his children, Cheri (Robert) Blazek, Wende (Arthur Schroeder) Bryson, and Mitchell (Serena) Bryson; his grandchildren, Amber, Tana, Kelsey, William, Emma, Ainsley, Evelyn, and Faith; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jean (Tom) McCracken and Genevieve "Georgie" (Raymond) Jenkins. Visitation will be Friday, June 30, 2023, from 9 a.m. to time of Memorial Service 11 a.m. all at First Congregational Church of Dundee, 900 S. 8th Street, West Dundee. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org.
