George F. "Buck" Deihs III

1954 - 2018

WEST DUNDEE - George F. "Buck" Deihs, III., D.D.S., age 63, of West Dundee passed away in the comfort of his home and under the care of his family on Friday, March 9, 2018. George was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on August 6, 1954 and was the son of George F., Jr., and Nancy J. (nee Bethke) Deihs. He was a lifelong resident of the area, a lifelong member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee and a 1972 graduate of Dundee Community High School. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN in 1976 and later his Doctor of Dentistry from the University of Minnesota. George practiced Dentistry in West Dundee for the past 34 years until a glioblastoma forced him to retire this past year. He was passionate and was a constant student in the art and science of Dentistry and held memberships in several Dental and Professional organizations including; Fox Valley Dental Society, The Academy of Restorative Dentistry, a charter member of the Crown Council, the Dental Boot Kamp as well as the Kois Study Club. George was also a longtime participant in Garth Brooks "Smiles for Life" program. Each year he would donate half of the participant proceeds to the Boys & Girls Club of Dundee Township. George was more than just a Dentist to his patients, he was a trusted and valued friend. Survivors include his wife of 30 years; Sandra K. (nee Hennessy) Deihs. Their daughters; Katherine R."Katie" and Laura J. Deihs. His father; George F. Deihs, Jr. His siblings; Rebecca (Rick) Ihrie, Paul (Theresa) Deihs, Susan (John) Tovar and James "Jay" (Laurie) Deihs. His sister-in-law; Gayle (Richard, M.D.) Besinger, his nieces and nephews, his uncle; Daniel (Carol) Bethke as well as many cousins and countless good and faithful friends. Buck was preceded in death by his mother; Nancy, his paternal grandparents; George F. and Rose (Wagner) Deihs and his maternal grandparents; Armand H. and Irma (Rakow) Bethke. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday March 17, 2018 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 310 E. Main Street, East Dundee with Rev. Phillip Baerwolf, Pastor officiating. At George's request he will be cremated following his service and Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be held in Luther Hall at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 16, 2018 and again on Saturday morning from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
