Georgene Andersen Obituary

Georgene Andersen of McHenry A memorial service for Georgene Andersen (nee Carlson), 60, formerly of Rolling Meadows, will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road (one block west of Route 12,½ block north of Grand Ave.), Fox Lake. Pastor Nathan Anderson will officiate. Friends and relatives are invited to arrive at the funeral home from 12 noon on through services. Born in Chicago, Jan. 12, 1947, to George and Martha (nee Wilson) Carlson, she died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at home surrounded by her family. Georgene was a homemaker in the home and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Plaines, a member of the Swedish Gymnastics Club of McHenry and the Dania Ladies Society. She will be deeply missed by her children, Steven (Leah) Andersen of Fox Lake, Monika (Joseph) Strumberger of Fox Lake and Christina (Timothy) Schoeps of Volo; grandchildren, Christian, Ethan, LiLi Marlene, Jack and Arden; her mother, Martha Carlson of Schaumburg; sister, Karen Britton of Albuquerque, N.M.; and her former husband, John Andersen of Boynton Beach, Fla. She was preceded in death by her father. In lieu of flowers, memorials for the American Cancer Society, 100 Tri-State International #125, Lincolnshire, IL 60069, appreciated. Georgene and I were good friends in high school and I remember going to her house and her mom making us grilled cheese sandwiches all the time. Georgene was my dad's favorite and he would always ask me "when is Georgene coming over again." She was the sweetest person I ever knew.
