GERALDINE P. Weisschnur

WEST CHICAGO - Geraldine P. (Gerry) Weisschnur, nee DeGraw, 87, formerly of St. Charles and Sycamore, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Central Dupage Hospital in Winfield. She was born April 7, 1928 in Chicago, the daughter of Samuel and Marion (Hunniford) DeGraw. Geraldine lived in Chicago and as a young child the family move to St. Charles. She attended St. Patrick's Elementary School and George E. Thompson High School, where she met her future husband, Harry W. Weisschnur, Jr. together they raised four children. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in St. Charles and in her younger years was an active member of the Women's Parish Club, as well as, chairing several committees including the Shamrock Shuffle and the Valentine's Day Dance. Gerry was a fun loving person who took deep interest in the friends she made and had great pride in her home and family. Gerry had many life-long friends throughout the years. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her Bridge Ladies. After 30 years in the work force, she retired from O'Brien Budd and moved to Sycamore, Illinois. Geraldine is survived by her children, Kathleen (Paul) Bowling, of St. Charles, IL; Nancy (Paul) McCaffrey of San Diego, CA; John (Rhonda) Weisschnur of Elburn, IL; and Mary Ellen (Joe) McClain of Dousman, WI. Eight grandchildren, Teri Cuddihy, Emily Konkey, Christopher Bowling, Kelly Combs, Erin McCaffrey, Taylor, Kevin and Brian McClain and five great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Margaret (Margo) Barnhart, and her former husband Harry W. Weisschnur, Jr. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, St. Charles. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Yurs Funeral Home. Donations may be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association.
