GUNNAR CARLSON CAMPBELL

1981 - 2017

Gunnar Carlson Campbell, 36, died Sept. 13, 2017. He was born March 7, 1981 in Hoffman Estates and resided in Des Plaines, the son of Susan (Carlson) Zimberoff, the late John Campbell, and step-father Jerold Zimberoff. Gunnar had a passionate love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and we know he is with Him now. Gunnar was a passionate White Sox fan who enjoyed tormenting his Cub fan relatives. He cheered on the Bears and any team that played the Packers. He was proud of his Swedish, German, and Irish heritage and was an enthusiastic Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan. Gunnar valued the time he had with his nieces and young cousins who called him Big Googie. His tender heart and quick-witted humor extended far beyond his reach and touched many people in a positive way. Gunnar is survived by his mother and step-father Susan and Jerold Zimberoff; his brother John Campbell (Christina); his sister Tara Lenhoff (Jason); his nieces Audrey, Olivia, and Maura (Lenhoff); and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Bertil and Bertha Carlson and John Sr. and Mary Lou Campbell; his father John Campbell Jr.; and his brother Skyler Campbell. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, September 15, at Our Redeemer's United Methodist Church in Schaumburg. Gunnar loved helping people; in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gunnar's generous spirit can be made out to Our Redeemer's United Methodist Church and its UMCOR efforts for hurricane relief.
