Henry Walli V Obituary
Henry David Walli V
Henry passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, at home under the loving care of his son, David and hospice. He was born on August 26, 1934, to Henry David Walli and Marian (nee Bomberry) Walli at the family's Silver Fox Ranch in Faithhorn, Michigan. He cherished growing up in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with his large, close-knit family.
A 1952 graduate of Stephenson High School, Henry began a long and dedicated career at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he worked for 30 years in Media Services. Respected for his technical skill and quiet professionalism, he was especially proud to receive the Janice Watkins Award in 1994 for his outstanding service to the university community.
After retirement, Henry pursued his "Handy Henry" business full-time, helping countless people fix just about anything. He took great pride in using his hands to serve others--always with patience, humor, and a smile.
Henry and his wife Lynne faithfully served for many years with Awana Clubs International, sharing the gospel with youth and leaving a lasting impact on generations of children and families.
Henry loved hunting, spending time with his family, writing, and being in the Northwoods of Upper Peninsula, MI.
One of Henry's favorite projects was buying and restoring a 1930 Model A Ford truck, just like the one he had growing up. He took great joy in bringing it back to life, showing it off at local events, and driving it in parades with a big smile on his face. The truck even made its way onto the big screen in the 2008 movie Public Enemies starring Johnny Depp--something Henry was especially proud of. That truck wasn't just a vehicle to him; it was a piece of his past and one of his most treasured possessions.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne, with whom he shared 67 wonderful years of marriage; his children, Nancy McVay (Ed), Arlyne Sanders (Tom), Lois Turck (the late Brian Turck), and David Walli (Pam); grandchildren, Rick, Lauren, Michael, Brandon, Alexandra, Cole, and Kayla; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Brendan; siblings, Douglas, Lance, Sheila, Maribeth, Susie, and Joy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Richard, Charles, Larry, Dennis, Sr. Kathleen, Yvonne, and Michael.
Henry will live on in our hearts forever. One of his favorite quotes was, "You are alive as long as you're remembered."
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Jubilee Bible Church, 900 Foster Ave., Medinah, IL 60157.
