Herbert Robert Daun a resident of Wauconda for 60 years A memorial Mass for Herbert Robert Daun, 89, will be celebrated at Transfiguration Parish, 348 W. Mill St., Wauconda, on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. Herb was the beloved husband for 68 years of Dorothy (nee Morin); loving father of Robert (Daun) and Denise Rippinger; cherished grandfather of Robin (Billy), Kelly, Corey and Jason (Kristen); proud great-grandfather of Lauren, Leah and Laci Falster, and Grace, Griffin and Cooper Daun; and devoted son of the late Hazel and Arthur. Herb was born Nov. 16, 1921, in Chicago, and passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, peacefully at the Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, Fla. Herb attended Trade High School in Chicago. Herb tested trucks for Diamond T Motor Car during the war years. Herb drove for Brink's Armored Trucks, then left to be closer to home and worked for Barco in Barrington until retirement. Herb was an active member of Transfiguration Church in his earlier years, a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Friendship Club of Transfiguration, where he made many dear friends. Herb was a member of the pinochle club and enjoyed playing cards with friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are appreciated to the Wauconda Fire Department, 109 W.
