James Hayes Obituary
James Patrick "Jim" Hayes, age 82, of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, at his home of 56 years, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Rita; and their four children, James (Nitsa), Richard, Shannon (Brian), and Matthew (Julie). He was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren, Nicole, Zachary, Stephanie, Matthew, Brian, Katelyn, Payton, Madison, Jake, Sophia, and Derek. And 5 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Jim was an avid player of men’s softball well into his seventies and found great joy in attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, always cheering them on with love and encouragement. He was a proud graduate of Oak Park River Forest High School.
Jim’s legacy of warmth, dedication to family, and love for sports will be cherished by all who knew him. A man of great character, Jim leaves behind a lasting impact on his family and community.

Visitation Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows. Funeral mass to follow 11:30 am at St. Colette Church, 3900 Meadow Drive, Rolling Meadows. A private burial service will be held at a later date.

Dear Rita and Family, please accept our condolences. It was a real pleasure to play
16 inch softball with Jim on various teams over the years. You could always count on Jim getting that clutch hit. A good friend and great role model for our children. Not enough words to say how we enjoyed those after game get togethers or just running into Jim about town. Jimmy was great Geezer softball teammate- probably the best lead off hitter I have played with. I still remember him hitting line drives down the right field line and racing around the bases.
