James Martin Voss

James Martin Voss passed away on March 28, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children. Jim was born April 20, 1942, to Martin and Ione Voss in Hinckley, IL and attended Northwestern University for his undergraduate and graduate studies in finance and business. He married Nancy Ellen Stone in June 1964, the day after their college graduation, and spent the next 60+ years pouring much time and energy into the lives of their three kids and five grandkids.

Professionally, Jim had a long and distinguished career in banking, spending 25 years at Continental Bank before retiring as a Senior Vice President in 1989. He then joined and supported numerous organizations in a variety of capacities ranging from employee to board member to simple volunteer. Many of his favorite engagements were in and around the Lake Geneva community that he loved.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Ione; and his three brothers, John, Dave, and Phil. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his sister, Debbie; his children, Cathy (and husband, Jay), Steve (and wife, Bridget), and Pete; and his grandchildren, Jack, Ione, Anna, Adam, and Ellie.

Memorial Services: A visitation will be held Saturday, April 12, from 10:30 am –12:30 pm at Toynton Funeral Home (328 Kenosha St., Walworth, WI). A memorial service will follow at1pm at the Community Church of Fontana (275 Kinzie Ave., Fontana, WI), with light refreshments at the church after the service. There will later be a private burial in Hinckley.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jim’s honor to the Nature Conservancy or Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy in Williams Bay. Or maybe just plant an acorn.
