John, you were quite possibly the kindest and fairest man I've ever met. Words cannot describe how much you will be missed by everyone who had the fortune of knowing you. Your sense of humor was contagious, as was your heart. You have changed my life for the better in so many ways that I can't even begin to express them all. Go in peace.

how could someone so busy find so much time for his friends? I have to say that John (Red) Carlson is the kindest, sweetest man I have ever know. I look up at the sky today and I know that John has to be there...showing those above us how to be a better person then when we first met him...the world feels a lot more empty today, but I thank God that John is in a better place and he will never be forgotten. Our hearts are heavy, whether family, friends, or professional associates of John's. I first met John in 1973, and worked for him and Susan for the next five years. After I moved on, we stayed in touch, enjoyed each other's companionship at the trade shows, and were mutually supportive. As a person, John enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, despite the phenomenal success of Carlson Labs. He always wanted to -- and always did -- the right thing. In the natural products industry, everyone respected his ethics and sense of fairness, even his competitors (who usually said the nicest things about him). John set a standard and lived by that standard. Everyone will miss him.

I'm so sorry I never got to meet you John but I've followed some of your stories on your daughter, Cari's facebook page. You've had a struggle this last year and finally you have gone home to your rest.Your memory will be forever in the hearts of those who loved you and many times your name will be mentioned and words of wisdom that you have passed along during your life will come out of the lips or those dear ones you've left behind. You will never be forgotten.
