JOHN P. "JACK" HARNESS

1937 - 2022

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - John P. "Jack" Harness, 85, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Born June 10, 1937, in Chicago, the son of Robert W. and Martha F. (Parker) Harness. Veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves 1959-1965. Former 55-year resident of Chicago and 14-year resident of Mount Prospect, IL. Jack was a retired President and member of the Board of Directors of Haggerty Enterprises, Inc. of Chicago (makers of "Lave Lite"). He was a former Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary of DeSoto, Inc. and previously longtime Controller of that company Member of the Financial Executives Institutes, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Illinois CPA Society. Jack was a CPA in the State of Illinois and also a member of Lodge 1526, B.P.O Elks in Des Plaines, IL. He was a fond stepfather and loving grandpa. Survived by his former wives, Dixie Ann Harness of Mount Prospect and Willodean D. Harness of Tennessee (formerly of Chicago); brother, James (Janice) Harness; stepchildren, Jennifer Jackolin, Matthew (Janet) Bozik, and Thomas (Bonnie) Bozik; grandchildren, Nicholas Jackolin and Eleanor and Jakob Bozik; nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by his parents; sister, Mary Harness, and brother Robert Harness. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
