FUNERAL HOME

Joshua Sherman Obituary

Joshua Sherman of Elgin Memorial services for Joshua Sherman, 47, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Home, 51 Center St., Elgin. The Rev. Edward Bergen of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Crystal Lake will officiate. Born Nov. 11, 1955, in Elgin, the son of Byron S. Sherman and Lillian Sherman (nee Brennen), he died Friday, July 25, 2003, at the home of his loving sister, Mary Jo in Genoa, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Burial will be private. Josh was the owner and proprietor of Schock's Greenhouses in Elgin, and an avid outdoorsman who truly enjoyed life. While on Earth he taught us to enjoy the sacred in the ordinary, the beauty in the mundane, and to enter in the sacrament of the present moment. He fought a courageous battle against cancer, even purchasing a fishing pole during his last day on Earth. There wasn't a fish that did not fear him. He is survived by his children, Ryan Oak Sherman and Meghan Elizabeth Sherman; his brothers, , Mark (Patricia) of Chetek, Wis., David (Karen) of Elgin and Matt (Mary Ellen) of Algonquin; his sisters, Elizabeth (George) Tucker of Mongomery, Ala., Judith Hoy of Geneva, Mary Jo (Jim) Stepniewski of Genoa, Edna Jean (Chris) Sack of Kansas City, Mo. and Amy (Gordon) Whiting of St Charles; his good friends, Shannon Payson, Rick Hoy and Pam Hoffman; and by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of services at 7:30 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to P.A.D.S., 164 Division St., Elgin, IL or to the charity of the donor's choice. I was so sorry to hear about Josh, He bought supplies from me, off and on since taking over the shop, and always loved to give" us sales reps " a hard time, and always in fun. Josh will be missed by so many!

Josh's sense of humor was always delightful. He could make you laugh even on his "off" days with his wonderful stories and jokes. He will be missed!

Dear Judy & The Sherman Family,

I was very saddned to learn of Josh's passing. I saw him at Schocks a couple years ago when I had business in Elgin. We shared some converstaion about his business and of course fishing.

I hope that he did not suffer in his last days, he was someone so full of life!

Under the circumstances I hope all is well with you and your family and my best to all your sisters and brothers.

Warmest Regards, Vic
