June Steele Obituary

June M. Steele

June M. Steele (nee Sturman), 94, passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends on July 4, 2024.

June was born June 23, 1930, to the late Harvey and Elizabeth "Alice" Sturman in Chicago. While being raised in the city, she developed what would become a lifelong friendship with Marilyn Ryan. They would get jobs together and when one was terminated, the other would soon follow.

She loved being with family and friends. June especially loved taking the younger family members, her great nieces and nephew to the theater and shows. She loved Elvis more than anything, except maybe some of Michalene's gourmet cooking. June was an avid bowler belonging to a league that became like family. June was a lifelong animal lover. Her dogs were her babies, her children.

June was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, John "Jack" Steele; her adoring brother, Harvey "Fritzy" Sturman; beloved nephew, Harvey 'Butch' Sturman; and dear great-nephew, William Harvey Sturman.

June is survived by her dear niece, Bonny (Rich) Smalley; caring nieces, Cassie (Corey) Ross, Christina Smalley, Amber (Andy) Mc Dermand and Brittany (Courtney) Sturman; and five adoring great-great-nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Pam and Lou, Michalene and Vince, the Novak family, endless friends whom we couldn't name all, and Mike for their support and help over the years.

Per June's wishes, private services have been held.

June was a special person who will be loved and missed by so many people whose lives she touched.

Memorials to the Anti-Cruelty Society appreciated.
