Laurabelle Fry Obituary

Laurabelle W. Fry of Naperville for 60+ years A memorial service for Laurabelle W. Fry (nee Wileden), 89, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at Knox Presbyterian Church, 1105 Catalpa, Naperville.The family will greet friends at a reception following the service. Internment will be private. Born Aug. 30, 1919, in Detroit, Mich., she passed away Dec. 19, 2008, at Meadowbrook Manor. Laurabelle attended Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, where she earned a degree in elementary education. She was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. She taught at the Dryden Elementary School in Michigan. She married John E. Fry in 1943 and moved with him to Naperville after World War II. She was the bookkeeper for the family land development business known as Fry Properties. She also taught second grade at Wheatland Elementary School for several years. The Fry Elementary School in Naperville is named in part for her service in District 204. Laurabelle is survived by her husband of 65 years, John E. Fry; sons, John Alan (Nancy) and Gordon (Debra); her daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Fry; grandchildren, Andrew (Ember), Erin (Ed) Fogarty, Adam, Becky (Jeremy) Spacht, Brian (Laura), Matthew, Christine, Sandra, and Stephen; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Bessie Dodds; and a niece, Sharon (Ted) Swanson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Alma (Maltby) Wileden; a sister, Olive Lucille; and her son, Laurent (Larry) D. Fry. In lieu of flowers memorials in Laurabelle's name may be given to the Knox Presbyterian Church memorial fund. Arrangements were made by Beidelman- Kunsch Funeral Home, 24021 W.
