Lawrence Birzetis Obituary

Lawrence J. Birzetis Sr. of Naperville A memorial service for Lawrence J. Birzetis, 70, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Knox Presbyterian Church, 1105 Catalpa Lane, Naperville. Born Sept. 28, 1932 in Chicago, he died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Interment is private. Mr. Birzetis retired from AT&T in 1982. He was a charter member of Knox Presbyterian Church, as well as a member of the Hall of Famers, church choir and also served as a deacon. He was a member of the Naperville Jaycees, Naperville Y Indian Guides, GAR Vice Commander Post 20, a former leader of Boy Scout Troop #81, Colonel Chicago Light Artillery Re-enactors, Copley Stroke Support Group, White Sox season ticket holder, Naperville Astronomy Club and Bounders United. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice Birzetis (nee McCrory) of Naperville; sons, Lawrence Jr. (Irene) Birzetis, Bill Birzetis and Mickey (Anne) Birzetis, all of Naperville; daughter, Kittie (Paul) Sumner of Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; grandchildren, Sue (Park) Krugger, Larry M. Kuhnhofer, Bill (Corrine) Siebert, Jim (Terri) Ward, Mike Ward, Elizabeth Birzetis, Jamie (Josh) Rocholl and Ashley Kelsi; great-grandchildren, Grace, Emily and Katy Anderson; and cousins, Mari Campbell of Houston and Wanda (Gary) Metz of Sioux Falls, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bren and Julia (nee Spitlis) Birzetis, and a sister, Lorraine Kirkpatrick. Memorials in Mr. Birzetis' name may be made to the church.
