LEON W. HAPKE

Leon W. Hapke, 80, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 in Madison, WI. He was born on April 25, 1943 in Libertyville, IL where he remained most his life and had lived in Grayslake, IL and Madison, WI for the past year. Leon retired as comptroller of the currency in Chicago doing financial auditing for banks around the nation and was a member & secretary for St. Matthew Lutheran Church & school in Lake Zurich, IL. Leon enjoyed gardening, golfing and especially bowling in many leagues throughout the years. Surviving is his brother, Orin (Charlene) Hapke; niece, Wendy Hapke Kempfer; nephew, Edward (Julie) Hapke and great nephews, Sebastian & Sullivan Kempfer and Henry Hapke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville & Alma Hapke. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2023 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 24500 N.
