Margaret Murdock Obituary

Margaret Jean Murdock

Margaret Jean (Schwendeman) Murdock, a longtime resident of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the age of 93.

Margaret was born on December 3, 1931 to Richard and Lily (Carlsson) Schwendeman. She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 35 years, Charles Oscar Murdock; and her daughter, Kathryn Margaret Murdock.

Margaret was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Charles (Andrea) Murdock, John (Sandy) Murdock, Barbara (Robert) Winfrey; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Margaret attended Taft High School in Norwood Park, IL, and Grinnell College in Iowa. She was an elementary teacher in School District 59. After retirement, she enjoyed many activities with friends, volunteering at Alexian Brothers Hospital and working at Hallmark part time.

Margaret had a kind and generous heart. She was a talented artist who enjoyed wood carving in all forms, with hundreds of Christmas ornaments to her credit. She took great pride in her beautiful outdoor flower gardens.

A private service will be held at Ridgewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Des Plaines.
