MARGARET J. NIELSEN

1924 - 2017

FOX LAKE - Margaret J. Nielsen, 92, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017. She was born in Chicago on October 26, 1924; to parents Harry and Kathryn (Schutz) Johnson. Margaret married her loving husband, Walter P. Nielsen on October 9, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois. They spent 56 wonderful years together, before Walter's passing in 2004. Margaret loved gardening, cooking, but most importantly loved her family and especially enjoyed being a Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Fox Lake, IL; and along with her husband, Wally, established a food pantry at the Church to help feed those in need. Margaret was also instrumental in the creation of the Prayer Blanket Ministry at All Saints. Margaret's life and her love will be remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, James (Barbara) Nielsen and Janet (Kevin) Cotter; grandchildren, Lizzie Nielsen, Beth (Chris) Jay, Mark (Mindy) Cotter, Sarah (Chad) Kent; great-grandchildren, Landon, Chase, Evelyn, Lauren, Haley, Aubrey, and Mason; sister, Lorraine Johnson. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter, and her parents. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017; at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of All Saints, 5800 State Park Road, Fox Lake, IL 60020.
