Marion F. West

Marion F. (Lovrine) West was born March 4, 1943, was the third oldest of seven to parents John and Madeline Lovrine of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marion passed in her home holding the hand of her loving husband, Raymond on Oct. 7, 2025. Marion suffered from vascular dementia and fought it long enough to see her granddaughter Gabbie get married.

Marion grew up in Milwaukee, where at USO dance at 20 years old, she met a young Sailor who she corresponded with the old-fashioned way. For two years they wrote letters getting to know each other and falling in love. The story goes; Mom proposed to Dad in a letter and he responded with an engagement ring sent via the US Post office. They were married on April 3, 1965. Mom was excited to travel with her new husband and their first stop was California, where she lived right on the beach. They then traveled to Memphis, where her oldest daughter Terisia was born. After that they moved to Florida and they welcomed another daughter, Rayanne and a son, Wyatt. The family was sent to Willow Grove, PA, before the Navy sent the family to Maine in 1976, where they purchased the only other home she ever lived in.

Marion loved the town and quickly became part of the community. She made shoes for Eastland shoe and other companies in the old Mill in Brunswick. While a member of the American Legion, she became a bartender where she could serve customers and listen to all their stories. The place my mom loved to work and make everyone feel extra special was her time at the Dunkin Donuts on Maine Street in Brunswick. She always had a smile for each person and had your order ready if you were one of her regulars. Being a Navy wife, Mom wasn't afraid of hard work, as she would mow the lawn, stack the wood and shovel the mountains of snow.

Marion was very independent and a woman who loved to shop. Mom could spot a bargain a mile away and was proud to show off whatever deal she found. She would always offer to share and if you liked what she found, it was yours. Mom enjoyed traveling, especially the yearly trips to Disneyworld, where She and Dad rode the train every time. Her family was important, going home to visit was something they did at least twice a year. Mom and Dad would take the train to Milwaukee to visit sisters, brothers, kids and grandkids.

Some of Marions favorite things were lady bugs, giraffes, owls, carousals, covered bridges and lighthouses. Her favorite flowers were carnations (don't waste money on roses). Marion loved Rays cooking so going out to eat was a favored pastime. She loved seeing movies (which they did every Saturday). Marion could be seen at home, sipping her favorite beverage, Coke. What she loved most in this world was spoiling those around her. Marion had a very special bond with her granddaughter Gabbie, who she took on many adventures. She was a wonderful Nannie.

Marion is survived by her husband of 60 years, Raymond T. West; daughter, Terisia and husband, Gary; and granddaughters, Alyson and Meaghan; daughter, Rayanne and husband, Shawn and granddaughter, Gabrielle Goodenow and her husband, Austin; son, Wyatt and wife, Monica and their children, Gavin and Peyton; her sisters, Dorothy, Margaret Ann aka Peggy and husband, Tom, brothers, Ronald and wife, Chris, Robert and wife. Irene. Along with several nieces and nephews.

Marion is predeceased by her parents, John Lovrine and Madeline (Merkel) Lovrine; older sister, Joan Voelzke and younger brother, John Lorvine.

Marion's visiting hours will at Stetson's Funeral Home, 12 Federal Street, Brunswick, on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 4-6 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Her Graveside Service will be in the Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Hayes, Virginia at a later date.
