Mary Catherine Hayes nee: Fitzgerald, a 45 year resident of Glen Ellyn, passed away on January 24, 2018. `Loving mother of Dennis (Kristen) Hayes, Kevin (Melanie) Hayes, Michael (Lynn) Hayes, Tracey Hayes-Fader and Sean Hayes (Scott Icenogle). Dear grandmother of McKenzie Smith, Parker Hayes, Emma Hayes, Elise Hayes, Rye Fader, Molly Fader, Shae Fader, Katlyn and Laura Hayes. Devoted daughter of the late Denis and Mary Fitzgerald. Fond sister of the late Therese (Jack) Russell. Aunt of Patrick (Jill) and John (Alina) Russell. Prayer service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Chapel (1 half mile west of Wolf Road on the south side of Roosevelt) located at 1400 S Wolf Rd., Hillside, IL 60162. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northern Illinois Food Bank, 273 Dearborn Court, Geneva, IL 60134. Mary was known for her selflessness, strength and most of all, her humor. Everyone who met her was immediately taken by her confidence and ability to make anyone laugh. Mary began working at Bethlehem Center in 1983 and was an integral part of expanding the mission to what it has turned into today. Now known as Northern Illinois Food bank, Mary's commitment and determination was critical in developing the great achievement of moving over 1 million pounds of food a week to the less fortunate in the Chicagoland area. She spent every day focusing on the needs of the less fortunate. She had a wealth of love to give and everyone felt it, especially her children - her proudest achievement.
