MARY HOLEVAS Obituary

ELGIN - Mary Pesch Holevas, 61, Elgin, IL, passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2024, after a multi-year struggle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, William; son, Michael (Jess); and grandson, Henry Holevas; loving sisters, Kathy Stefani (Ray), Sue Tofanelli (Steve), Linda Pesch and Sherri Lydon (Kevin); mother-in-law, Kathy Holevas; brothers-in-law, John Holevas (Celeste), Jim Holevas (Georgia); and (10) nieces and nephews; and (13) great-nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Marilyn and Donald Pesch; and father-in-law, James Holevas. She was a graduate of St. Edward Catholic High School, Elgin, received her BA from University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA and master's degree from Loyola University, Chicago, IL. She had a very successful career in corporate America assisting fortune 500 companies develop talent and business strategies. More recently, she assisted her husband Bill in running his dental practice in Elgin, IL. They had been married for 35 years and thoroughly enjoyed spending their free time having dinner with friends. She also enjoyed spending hours on the beach watching the sunset on Marco Island, FL. Her true passion in life was being a mother to her son, Michael and "Mimi" to her grandson, Henry. She will be most remembered for her beautiful smile, tenacious personality and incredible heart. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 12th, at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will be at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Des Plaines. Visitation will be held on April 11th, at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, IL from 4:00 PM- 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Appendix Cancer, Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) PMPPALS.NET/GIVE. For information, call 847-741-8800 or www.lairdfamilyfuneralservices.com.

Our sincere condolences to the Holevas/Pesch families. Mary was always a shining light with such an infectious personality. We have many memories celebrating our children's birthdays and enjoying her company at many dinners and gatherings together. We will forever cherish the memories. Although we will all miss Mary, she is now in a place where there is no pain and suffering. May her memory be ever eternal. Zoi se sas.
