Mary Lytikainen Obituary
Mary Jane, known affectionately as Jane, was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Atchley, her second husband, Carlo Lytikainen; her daughter, Victoria Arnold; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Andres.
She is survived by her devoted children, Connie (CJ) Couillard (Jim Johnson) and Ben (Cindi) Atchley; as well as her stepdaughters, Connie (Ted) Kmiec and Carla (Jeff) Andres. Jane was a cherished grandmother to Brent, Melissa (Christoph), Neil (Becca), Robert (Antoinette), Jessica (Greg), Justin (Soo Jin), Nicole, Brandon, Ted, Trenton, Lisa, Heather, and Daniel. She was also a loving Gi Gi to 22 wonderful great-grandchildren.
Jane had a fulfilling career as a school teacher, where she inspired and educated many young minds. Her passions extended beyond the classroom; she loved crafting, sewing, and gardening, and was known for her voracious reading. One of her greatest joys was playing card games with her grandchildren, a tradition that brought her immense happiness.
In her later years, Jane discovered a new love for competitive Wii bowling, with her expert teachers, Fred and Fred, guiding her. Regardless of the circumstances, Jane's upbeat spirit shone through in her favorite response to the question, "How are you?"—"PEACHY."
Jane will be lovingly remembered by her family as an extraordinary mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated teacher whose warmth and zest for life touched everyone who knew her.
Memorial visitation will be 2 - 5 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2024, at Ringa Funeral Home, Lake Villa. A memorial service will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Ringa Funeral Home.
