MATTHEW "MATTY" HENNESSY

Deacon Matthew "Matty" Hennessy of Prospect Heights Deacon Matthew "Matty" Hennessy, 90, was born in County Tipperary, Ireland, to David and Catherine (nee Hayes) Hennessy. He passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013. Matt served as a deacon for 39 years, primarily at St. James Church. He was devoted to the blessed sacrament both at chapel visitations and the Eucharistic holy hour. He had a strong faith and often lead the Rosary after Mass. Matt enjoyed working in his yard and garden, which always reminded him of his home farm in Ireland. Matthew is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Marion Beem Hennessy (nee Rue); his stepchildren, Maureen (William) Ruddy, Francis (Mary) Beem, Carol Beem and Charlotte Garcia; and many stepgrandchildren, great-stepgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his dear first wife of 17 years, Alice Mojzis Hennessy; his parents; his seven siblings, including his dear brother, Fr. John Hennessy; and his stepson, Patrick Beem. Visitation will be from 3 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights. Prayers will be at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the funeral home, proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road., Arlington Heights, for Mass at 12 noon.
