MICHAEL E. BARNAS Sr.

WAUCONDA - Michael E. Barnas, Sr., age 97. Michael was the beloved husband of the late Emily, who preceded him in 1997; loving father of Michael E., Jr. and James (Darlene); cherished grandpa of Kathryn (Alex) Nunez, Antoinette, Michael J. and James M. Barnas; dear brother of the late Anthony (Patricia), and the late Nina (the late Donald) Downes and Anna (the late William) Pilar; fond uncle of many. Michael was born February 5, 1925, in Chicago, to the late Michael and Antoinette (nee Metelka), and passed away Friday, November 18, 2022, at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago. Michael proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and was a Prisoner of War in Germany. He was a former Co-Owner of Cooks Picnic Grove, member of American Legion Post # 911, Transfiguration Church and the Wauconda Chamber of Commerce in Wauconda, IL. Visitation will be Friday, December 9, 2022, from 9:00 am to time of funeral service at 12 noon at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St., Wauconda, IL 60084. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Wauconda Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Wauconda Fire Rescue Association, 109 W. Liberty St., Wauconda, IL 60084.
