MICHAEL EDWARD KEAFER

1950 - 2022

ELGIN - Michael Edward Keafer, 72, of Elgin, passed away on June 30, 2022. He was born on January 9, 1950, in Elgin, IL, the son of Walter and Rosemary (Peterson) Keafer. Michael graduated from Larkin High School in 1968. He was a Plumber/Pipefitter with the Local Union #597 for many years prior to his retirement. Michael was an avid Chicago sports fan, loved to fish, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed. He was a member and Past Governor of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #799. Survivors include his wife: Ann (Cochran), whom he married on November 28, 1981; three children: Kerri (James) Carrigan, Kristine Caballero and Katherine (Jeremy) Sheffield; six grandchildren: Esme, Eli, Ricky, Everett, Addison and Anna Rose; a brother: Gary Keafer; his close friends: Art Schueneman and Ken Naegele; along with many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Michael W. Keafer; and a sister: Karen Keafer. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, from 4:00pm-6:30pm at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with a service of remembrance to begin at 6:30pm.
