Milton Mojzis Obituary

Milton Robert Mojzis Funeral services for Milton Robert Mojzis, 73, of Stillwater, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Strode Funeral Home Chapel, Stillwater. Born June 19, 1932, in Oak Park, Ill., to Joseph and Anna Mojzis, he died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, in Oklahoma City, Okla. Milt married Rhea Campbell on June 5, 1960, in Berwyn, Ill. He received he bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He held memberships in the music honor societies Pi Kappa Lambda, Phi Beta Mu, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Between degrees, he served in the 77th U.S. Army Band. He taught music and was a band leader, spending most of his career at Albright Middle School in Villa Park, Ill., and was the 1989 Chicagoland Outstanding Music Educator. He played the trumpet and was a member of the Chicago Federation of Musicians Local 10-208 for 49 years. After retiring from teaching, he served on the faculty of DePaul University in Chicago, supervising student music teachers. He was an enthusiastic boater, active in the U.S. Power Squadron, and a Past Commander of District 20. He is survived by his wife, Rhea Mojzis of Stillwater; his daughter, Colleen Klockow and her husband, Larry of Johnson Creek, Wis.; his daughter, Donna Petersen and her husband, Robert of Granite Bay, Calif.; his daughter, Melody and her husband, Jeffrey Spitler of Stillwater; nine grandchildren, Stacey Schultz and her husband, Dan of Wisconsin, Shaun Streich of Wisconsin, Sharon and Robert Petersen of California, Sarah, Rachel, Hannah, Rebekah, and Susanna Spitler of Stillwater; and one great-grandchild, Sabrina Schultz. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Edward Mojzis. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family at [email protected].
