NORMA KEATING Obituary

Norma A. Keating, age 92, and a 71-year resident of Wheaton, Illinois, died on Sunday, May 22, at Wyndemere Retirement Community. She was born on September 21, 1929, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Roman and Lillian Bebber. She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Jack Keating; her parents; and her sister, Lynn Murray. She grew up in a loving home, enjoying time at the lake house and many outdoor pursuits. She attended art school at the American Academy of Art, where she met her future husband, Jack. They were married on October 5, 1951, in her parents' home on President Street in Wheaton. Norma was a talented artist, writer and poet. She was an avid tennis player. She loved golfing, skiing and swimming, and shared these passions with her family. Many of her lifelong friendships began in her couples and ladies' tennis groups. She had a sense of style second to none, and this carried into her entertaining for family, friends and clients. She cooked farm to table food before anyone knew what it was. She was a spectacular florist! She wore many hats. Her jobs included work at Rory's dress shop, receptionist at her husband's advertising firm, guidance secretary at Wheaton North High School, Sunday School teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Wheaton. In her later years, she attended Naperville Presbyterian Church. As a devout Christian, she was the best wife, Mom, sister, daughter, mom-in-love, grandma and great-grandma. Norma is survived by three sons, Scott (Nancy), Todd (Tammy) and Kevin (Suzie); six grandchildren, Kyle Keating, Amanda Whyte, Greg Keating, Lauren Keating, Leah Keating and Jackson Keating; also five great-grandchildren, Kira and Caleb Keating, Hallie and Peadar Jack Whyte and Madeline Keating. She resided at Wyndemere for the last two decades of her life where she had many friends and continued to host holiday coffees for the residents. She will be greatly missed, yet our loss is heaven's gain. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Private interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Guest book and information at www.hultgrenfh.com or 630-668-0027.

Mrs. Keating was a beloved mother of my team mate, Todd at Illinois Benedictine College. When I read her obituary, it became evident Ms. Keating was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.
If a mother´s love is expressed through her children, Mrs. Keating was a beautiful example for all of us.

Nancy and send our deepest condolences to Todd, Tammy and the entire Keating family. May your mother rest in peace and in the arms of Jesus.

She lived, she loved, she laughed, she left, and the world will never be the same. I'll miss Norma's great spirit, kindness and humor. To her sons and their families, you've suffered an immense loss, but it's heaven's gain. Rest in Peace, dear Norma.
