Otto A. Maicke

Otto A. Maicke of Algonquin Visitation for Otto A. Maicke, 82, will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial services at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Congregational Church, 109 Washington St., Algonquin. The Rev. Arn Schaper will officiate. Private burial will be in Algonquin Cemetery. Born Nov. 3, 1923, in Hobart, Ind., the son of Edward and Augusta (nee Egert) Maicke, he died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005, at Kindred Sycamore Hospital. He had been employed as a custodian at Crystal Lake South High School. On May 1, 1954, he married Betty Rosenthal. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Algonquin. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Betty; son, William (Carla) of Bloomington, Ill.; daughter, Jean (William) Herfel of Fox River Grove; and grandchildren, Steven and Jeremy Maicke and Cassandre and Eric Herfel. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward, Herman and Arthur; and sisters, Linda Hallead, Caroline Maicke, Mildred Rumics and Lorraine Kampert.
