PAUL WELLS Obituary

BARRINGTON - Paul J. Wells passed away on June 27, 2022, at 62 years. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and colleagues and will always hold a big place in their hearts. Paul was born on June 18, 1960, and grew up in Park Ridge, IL. He attended Maine South High School. He was the son of Dorothy (nee Dubiel) Wells and Chester Wells (Wiszowaty) both deceased. Paul married Dana Nelius (Wauconda) in June 1997 after a long, long courtship and they were best friends for more than 36 years. They had two children together, Geneva, 23 and Greigh, 20 (Barrington). There was nothing Paul enjoyed talking about (ok, bragging about) more than his kids. He was extraordinary brother to Joan Wells (d.); David Wells Crystal Falls, MI; Elizabeth Wells Des Plaines, IL; Ann Wells Racine, WI (Ann's caretaker Judy Gage, Racine, WI) and Michelle (Wells) Cross Scottsdale, AZ. Fond uncle to Steven, Cory, Callia, Elliana and Zander. Paul called his home his 'sanctuary' with 6 acres on a pond in the middle of Chicago suburbia. There he enjoyed what he loved most: time with his Family, Fishing and Food. Paul was a great cook, rarely followed a recipe and brought family and friends together hosting planned and impromptu gatherings. He also loved the outdoors, camping, reading and great wine. Paul was a natural 'marketer' and relationship builder. He discovered real estate was the perfect fit for his entrepreneurial style and his desire to make life better for people so, in 1986 he started selling real estate predominantly in the NW Suburbs of Chicago. He achieved his Broker's license in 1987. In 2002, with the mentorship and guidance of owner Charles Helfrick, Paul purchased the REMAX Office in Barrington, IL. He was the owner/broker until his passing. Over the years more than 200 agents worked at Paul's company, and he was always grateful for what he learned from each one. He sought every opportunity to be a trusted friend and mentor. Paul was a bridge builder among people from the day he was born - both personally and professionally, a role he loved most. Paul's goal was to provide leadership and energy to everyone he met and that he did! His energy was contagious and uplifting so much so that he became a motivational and leadership keynote speaker for REMAX Int'l., and he had the honor of sharing his wisdom and wit with real estate professionals around the country. Paul served on real estate industry committees and boards, including NSBAR, Certified Distressed Property Experts and most recently serving as Board Chair of MRED. Growing up with 2 older sisters with disabilities, Paul actively supported organizations for people with disabilities that further their ability to lead the most incredible lives possible. His favorite quotes, "How may I serve you*", "It's a great day" and "Your what hurts*" We would love you to join us to celebrate his life at Citizen's Park (Jewel Tea Pavilion & Soule Amphitheatre) in Barrington on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 1:00 - 5:00pm. Very casual; tables and chairs provided indoors, outdoor picnic tables. Feel free to bring picnic blanket or lawn chairs. Light refreshments provided. I met Paul through my Late husband Dan. Paul and Dan worked together.
After my husband passed. I needed to sell my house. Paul came and worked with me, we became friends and we had many conversations through the years and I always looked forward to his letters each month on different topics. He was so kind, and considerate, to me. He helped me
With a very difficult situation. I was so greatful. It was a shock to hear he had passed, so young too Like Dan. I pray for His family. I still find it hard to believe, I know we will all be together again someday.

I so will miss all of the great conversations I had with Paul. When I would see his name come across my phone I knew not to answer unless I had a lot of time available and I am sure Paul did the same with me. We could talk for an hour at a time and the conversations were always upbeat and positive. We openly shared ideas with each other and Paul was just someone that I could always trust. Paul was an inspiration to those he spoke with and he will be greatly missed for sure. Rest In Peace my friend!

In the 25 years I knew him he always was positive and a great big smile. When he would come into the bakery he always made my day. May you find peace in knowing that his love for his family will always be with you.
