My heartfelt condolences to all who knew aunt Phil well. She was a dear friend and sister to my mother, Janet, and for that I will always be grateful. My fondest childhood memories from Illinois were our visits to see Aunt Phil and Uncle Jerry - we'd always stay with her and she was so warm.
Love, Paul

Many memories of Aunt Phyl include a lot of humor, strength and love. She could bring a quick smile to all with her wit and not much seemed to ruffle her feathers. As I think of her, she brings a smile to me as I see her directing, joking, cooking and talking, while lots of action is going on all around her. She is loved and remembered well.

Phyllis was a blessing to all who knew her. For me she was a mentor, friend, study buddy & prayer partner. One evening we walked to her car after a Bethel Bible study class. She got in & started the engine as I continued on. As I looked back, she exited the car. Thought she'd forgotten something in the classroom, but that wasn't the case. She had to turn on one of the headlights, the type that's covered & flips open. The procedure, as I learned that night was ... get in the car, turn on the engine, get out of the car, walk to the front of the car, make a fist, grit teeth & pound pound hard on the hood above the headlight. An interesting & descriptive commentary on the car manufacturer followed. She will be missed.

Phyllis was a blessing to all she met. For me personally, she was a friend, mentor, study buddy & prayer partner. I remember leaving the Bethel Bible study class one night. We walked together to her car. I waved a good-by & walked away as her car started, only to look back & see her exit the car.
Thought she'd forgotten something but that wasn't the case. She had get her front headlight on, one of those that had the cover that automatically flipped open. The only way it would open was what she did: walk to the front of the car, make a fist, grit her teeth & let loose with a hearty bang on the hood. I won't share what her comment was about the car manufacturer, but it was priceless. She will be missed!

Phyllis was an amazing woman with an even more amazing family. Even though we don't live close, she always treated us as if we were part of her own family. She kindly requested pictures of our kids, sent us very nice notes on Christmas, and always made us feel welcome. A long, accomplished life she was able to live with all of her family and friends. Her heart was warm and kind; we will miss her dearly.

Phyllis was a blessing to the people of Trinity UMC and others whom she cared for. It was my priviledge and blessing to know her and be her pastor for 15 years. My entire family enjoyed and appreciated her.
