Phyllis Netzel Obituary

Phyllis Lucille Netzel

Phyllis Lucille Netzel (nee Fusco), 82, of Bartlett, IL (formerly of Franklin Park, IL) passed away early Wednesday morning, March 26, 2025. Phyllis was born in Chicago, IL on March 13, 1943, one of three children Charles Jr. and Samuel to Charles Sr. and Bessie (nee Swanson) Fusco. She went to Elmwood Park High School before marrying the late Kenneth Netzel Sr. on May 23, 1959. Ken and Phyllis had four children, with Phyllis being a stay at home mom who took care of everything associated with running their household. Phyllis was a very good cook, taking up cake decorating as a hobby, becoming very proficient and making cakes for important life events for family and friends. She canned fruits and vegetables, was an avid seamstress, and later in life learned to use computers. After the kids were in school Phyllis also invested in a horse and was involved in riding and competing in horse shows for many years. She loved being at the stable with her beloved horses, Cinnamon and Tasu. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially spending two weeks every summer at Lake Nancy in Minong, WI. Ken and Phyllis spent 61 years together until Ken’s passing in January of 2021.

Phyllis is survived by her four children: Kenneth Netzel Jr. (Ivy) of Wilson, MI, Daniel Netzel (the late Maureen) of South Elgin, Joseph C. Netzel (Cari) of Chicago, and Lisa (Andrew) Scumaci of Bartlett. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Christopher (Megan) Netzel, Mallory (Brian) Muzzarelli, Joseph K. Netzel, Jordyn Scumaci, Devin Netzel, Nickolas Scumaci, and Michelle Netzel, and 2 great-grandchildren, Archer and Maverick Netzel, along with many friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Sr. and Bessie, her brother Charles Fusco Jr., her husband Kenneth J Netzel Sr., and her daughter-in-law Maureen Netzel.

In accordance with Phyllis’ wishes there will be no funeral. She has chosen to donate her body to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois. A visitation for family and friends will be held at a later date. Countryside Funeral Home in Bartlett is assisting the family with the arrangements. 630-289-7575 or www.countrysidefuneralhomes.com
