PHYLLIS JEAN THOMPSON ZIEGLER

ELGIN - Phyllis Jean Thompson Ziegler, 90, of Elgin, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024. She was born on June 12, 1933, in Geneva, Illinois. She is survived by her son, David Ziegler (Lydia) of Elgin, Illinois and daughter, Lori Ziegler Cabell (John) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; and grandchildren, Adam Ziegler (Ashley), Leah Ziegler Hammerl (Douglas), and Jean Cabell Livingston (Tyler); and great-grandchildren, Logan Hammerl, Jack and Brooklyn Ziegler. She was predeceased by her husband, James Lyle Ziegler of Elgin Illinois; and parents, John Stanley and Jean (Jankila) Thompson of St. Charles. Phyllis was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Elgin, Illinois, where she was Choir Director for 11 years. She was a member of P.E.O., Chapter DY, Elgin Illinois, a supporter of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the Elgin Choral Union, Fox Valley Music Association, Elgin Cultural Arts Commission, and has been honored by Altrusa and YWCA for her community involvement. She attended Lawrence University-Music, Appleton, Wisconsin and graduated from University of Illinois-Music, Urbana-Champaign Illinois. Memorial donations may be made in Phyllis' honor to First United Methodist Church Music Ministry, 216 E. Highland Ave., Elgin, Illinois, 60120. Private services will be held at a future date.
