ROBERT A. "MICK" MICKELSEN

Robert A. "Mick" Mickelsen of Wheaton Robert A. "Mick" Mickelsen, age 66, passed away on July 30, 2013. He was born in Racine WI and raised in Wheaton IL, where he attended Wheaton Central High School. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in Liberal Arts. After college he moved to Chicago, was a high-school English teacher before managing Durkin's Tavern, then married and moved back to Wheaton where he raised his family in his childhood home and did fund raising for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Coach "Mickelsen" was a Wheaton Park District girl's softball coach, avid Cubs fan, and spent summers vacationing and fishing for Walleye in Minnesota with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Clara of 27 years; his children Robert Patrick and Rebecca; sister Linda; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Lorin, mother Jane (nee Christiansen) and brothers David and Richard. Memorial visitation is Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one block east of Naperville Road), Wheaton.
