ROBERT C. ROOS

1941 - 2015

Robert (Bob) C. Roos, age 73, born October 1, 1941 in Oak Park, IL to Robert C. and Persis W. Roos, went home to Jesus on February 15, 2015 after battling Parkinson's for 18 years and more recently a brain tumor. Bob grew up in Elmwood Park, Illinois. He graduated from Wabash University in 1963 where he was a proud member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He earned a JD from Duke University Law School in 1966. On September 12, 1970, he married Barbara Elizabeth Swanson who survives him. They lived in the Chicago area before moving to Greensboro, North Carolina. After three years, he and his family returned to Chicago where he was a long time resident of the Wheaton/West Chicago area. He spent his last days at Winfield Woods Healthcare Center (Winfield, Illinois) where he had many cherished friends and was well-cared for by the staff. His over 40-year career in corporate law included work for Teletype, Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent, and Sprint. He was member of the team responsible for the earliest modern phone system in Saudi Arabia. He was a long time member of Wheaton Bible Church, and could be found serving on the Missions Board as well as various other roles. Bob enjoyed traveling, going to the theater, researching genealogy, reading, and time with his family. He loved watching the Cubs as well as his beloved Duke Basketball team. Throughout his life, Bob held tight to his faith and rested in the knowledge that the trials of this life were only temporary. He eagerly anticipated meeting his Savior and experiencing true healing. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Amy of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota and Alison (Jeffrey) Crowley of Wheaton, Illinois; his sister, Dr. Wendy Ann Bailey (Dean) of Coronado, California; his sister-in-law, Patricia Roos (late James) of Salisbury, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Tyler and Victoria Crowley; and many other loved ones and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; his mother, Persis; and his brother, James. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 27 from 4-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N.
