RONALD J. SCHAEFER

1929 - 2017

ELGIN - Ronald J. Schaefer, 87, of Elgin, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 in Seymour, TN. He was born on July 3, 1929 in Barrington and was the son of J. Wesley and Nellie (Breeding) Schaefer. He had been a resident of Elgin most of his life and been employed by the First National Bank of Elgin, Ace Hardware and Toys R Us before retiring. Ron was a U.S. Army Veteran. He had been a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, former member of the Elgin Jaycees and the Elgin Choral Union. He is survived by his daughter Susan Irby of Seymour, TN; a son John Schaefer of Elgin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marjorie in 1995, a daughter Karen and a brother Dean Schaefer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will follow in Bluff City Cemetery.
