SHARON GRAMMAR Obituary

Sharon Lee Stone Behrens Grammar, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior on March 20, 2022, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 84. Born to Robert W. and Muriel F. Harper Stone in Elgin, Illinois in 1937, she was the sibling of Nancy Joanne Stone Huber (Jack) and Michael Robert Stone (Sue), both who survive her. Sharon married Charles Behrens, Jr., and the result of that union were two children, Judith Lynn Behrens Candido (Dan) and John Charles Behrens (Dr. Melinda). In 1978, Sharon married Burum "Jack" Grammar, who preceded her in death. Sharon was a friendly, outgoing individual who shared Jesus and His love boldly with others. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in many choirs and choruses throughout her life. As a teen she played softball and was chosen as a dancer in Elgin's Big Timber Song of Hiawatha pageant. She graduated from Elgin High School Class of '55 and attended Northern Illinois University, where she pledged Kappa Delta. She was an officer in the Elgin Junior Women's Club and worked in the U-46 Elgin School District. In 1974, Sharon felt God's calling on her life and moved to New Jersey to become the office manager for Christian Counseling and Psychotherapy Center in Manhattan. After she married Jack, they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and became realtors. Sharon was a successful realtor for Century 21, RE/MAX, Realty Executives, and HomeSmart, and she and Jack also operated Grammar Enterprises. Sharon remained active in real estate in the Phoenix Valley into her seventies. She taught and participated in several ladies' Bible Study groups, where she made lifelong friends who became prayer warriors together. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Burum "Jack" Grammar, and a special friend, Roger Wagner. She is survived by her children Judi Candido of Somerset, Kentucky, and John Behrens of Olympia, Washington, their spouses, and her five grandchildren: Jennifer Blankenship (Chris) of Somerset, Kentucky; Steven Candido of Seattle, Washington; Rebecca Hezeltine (Aaron) of Rockford, Illinois; Garrett Behrens of Olympia, Washington, and Cole (Kasey) Behrens of Olympia, Washington. She also is survived by three great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Will, and Brady Blankenship. She is also survived by stepchildren Dawn Hoiland (John), Dan Grammar (Alisa), Dana Elmer (Andrew), John Grammar, and Brenda Mosier, and their children and grandchildren. In addition, she leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews: Sue Koehring, Sandy Sensor (Bill), Darlene Alanis, Dale Koehring (Courtney), Kimm Niko (Sam), Jeff Huber (Kay), and Lori (Stevie Ray). Sharon also leaves behind Dana Wagner, Susie Newell, and Laurie Yantis, who were like daughters to her, and beloved friends Mike and Mary Burnidge and family, and Dr. Walt and Diane Lippert. She leaves behind many friends and neighbors in her beloved LifeStream community, and at Northridge Community Church, where she and Jack were charter members. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale, AZ, 85255, April 24, at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Mike Burnidge officiating, and reception to follow. A private interment will be held at National Memorial Cemetery of Phoenix, Arizona, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Burnidge Soup Kitchen at thebsk.org.
