I found out about Shawn's passing this past Saturday, at a reunion of our old DeMolay chapter. We shared a lot of good times in the brief time that our paths crossed, and the news came as a shock to all of us. What a tragic loss of a friend, brother DeMolay, and all-around honorable and great guy. God Bless.

My deepest sympathy to the family for their loss. I haven't seen Shawn for many years. I think it was the day he left for the Navy. He was a sweet boy and I remember all the time he spent hanging out at our house on Kemah Ln in Schoumburg. The day he moved in across the street I got a second little brother. I am married and have lived in Arizona for the past 7years, as sad and shocking as the news was that he had passed away is as happy I was to see what a good life he had lived, and to see how many good friends he had made along the way. What more can we really ask for.
All my best Wishes Victoria Gentry-Swedler

Shawn was a good friend and I'm sorry I have to say goodbye. He was always considerate of his fellow man putting others before himself. He always had a positive outlook and a quick wit making people laugh. He'll be missed greatly by the 126th and all others he knew.

It is with great sorrow that I have heard of your loss. I first met Shawn at O’Hare, when he would come down and drill with us at the 126th Air Refueling Wing. At that time he was still in the Naval Reserves. He later joined our unit, after we moved to Scott AFB.
Shawn was a professional, always had a great attitude, and worked hard at everything he did. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Beryl, Pat , Don and families, I am so sorry for your loss. Although I haven't seen Shawn since he was a little boy at my wedding, I always thought that he was a bright articulate and very happy little boy. The time he spent at out house when he was just 2 and thought the Detroit River was the biggest swimmingpool that he had ever seen, will always be in my memory. May he rest in peace.

Shawn - I got along better with you than my own brothers, and you and I got along better than you and Meghan did sometimes! Losing you is such a tragedy, you're really going to be missed. I'll always cherish our Christmas together as temporary brother and sister.
