I kept running into Steve for years whenever I went to a Buddy Foundation fundraiser. He was very involved with the organization, as his wife, Barbara, was as well. When I visited the Buddy Foundation building in Arlington Heights, I'd run into him as well. He was so devoted to the animals. I started fostering a kitty named Chance, and Steve and Barbara came to visit him, bringing lots of goodies. Chance was so scared of everything, but as soon as Steve's booming voice sounded, calling his name, Chance came running out to see Barbara and him. Steve had managed to catch Chance after many tries, and proceeded to help him become calmer and more content.
I cannot say how sad those who give their time at the Buddy Foundation will feel.

Steve had a great love for cats. He would catch the feral cats and spend time with the shy cats so they would develop to be 'adoptable'. He often brought special treats for them and spent a lot of time with them talking and having them on his lap. Steve also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed teasing us fellow volunteers. He was so helpful around the Buddy: did many chores whenever he was able to, brought cats to Vets, picked up supplies, cut the grass, etc. He was a conscientious volunteer for many years. He will be missed.

Steve had a great love of cats and was wonderful with all of the cats he encountered. He would help develop the cats who were feral or shy so they would become adoptable. I also enjoyed his great sense of humor. Steve was always ready to help at the Buddy and was a constant volunteer for many years. He will be missed so much!
