Sorry to hear of Fr Steve´s passing. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends. We enjoyed many spiritual and social times with Steve while he served at St Zachary Parish. May he Rest In Peace. Our prayers are with you. The Freko Family.

I've known Steve since our shared first year at Quigley (1-H), & our friendship continued through our joint Niles & Mundelein (mis)adventures. In addition to serious human & academic maturation, we made sure to lighten the load with jaunts to northern Minnesota & Nippersink Resort with Bob Heidenreich, Ed Upton, Ken Wolkowicz & Bill Zavaski (neither locale will ever be the same) & an annual excursion by the same motley crew to Milwaukee's County Stadium to take in Cubs/Braves games, followed by dinners at Mader's German Restaurant (always at Bill's insistence). There was also the traveling weekly poker game that rotated through our parents' homesteads. In later life I was able to live next-door to Pinion, which meant more quality time with Steve & his co-conspiritors in Michigan City. They even hosted my bachelor party when I married (What other bachelors did I know?). When you're 80 years old, there's no harm in a bit of nostalgia, & Steve has provided the cherished memories for much more than a bit. Steve, thanks for those memories & for sharing your life with us.
