THOMAS RAINES Obituary

Thomas Andrew Raines, 40, of Chicago, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021. Adoring father to Elena; beloved son of Thomas and Winnie (nee Oliver) Raines; loving brother of the late Richard, Kelly, and Maureen (John) Wuchterl; cherished uncle of Frank, Nicholas, Allison, Gracelynn and Nicholas, dear grandson of the late Thomas and Evelyn Raines, and Kathleen and Patrick Oliver; loved nephew of Richard "Ron" and Ann Raines, Kathy (Roger) Perry, Hon. William Raines, Jeanne Raines, and Kathy (Kevin) Ryan; loved cousin of many and cherished friend to even more. Tommy earned his BA from Western Illinois University and spent 13 years as an officer with the Chicago Police Department. In the last few years, Tommy was pursuing a new career in technology sales. Enthusiastic about the many exciting opportunities, Tommy successfully achieved multiple certifications and found success in his new field. Tommy's personality and positive attitude was infectious, he always had a kind word and a smile to anyone he came in contact with. He had a story for every occasion and he loved to make others laugh. He made friends wherever he went and he saw the best in anyone he encountered. He will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate enough to call him a friend. The family invites all friends to share their memories of Tommy during a celebration of life memorial visitation at Moretti's Ristorante, 6727 Olmstead, Edison Park, on Thursday, July 22 from 4-8 pm, beginning with a blessing and remembrance ceremony from 4-5 pm. Condolences for the family and donations can be made to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.

Just came across this page, and seeing Tommy's face brings back so many wonderful memories of him and Michael. Those two were thick and thieves and so funny together. Miss them both.

Tommy´s friendship, generosity, and bright spirit will be greatly missed by all that knew him. His impact on so many, and his selflessness will endure long after the sorrow of his loss.

Fly high my friend, and thank you for everything you did to help me in Austin. You only knew me a month before letting me stay at your place for a month, I will forever be grateful to you. Until we meet again.

Tom, Winnie, Kelly, Maureen and family,
You are the strongest friends that we have. Tommy was a fantastic story teller of the "Irish Tradition!" A great trait that truly runs in your family.
We can't even begin to imagine the pain that you are suffering but know that our thoughts and prayers will always be with you.
