It was with great sadness to hear from Andrew about Fred.
I first new Fred in the start up years of Ansco under Jim Carfagno, Bob Bedessom and Bill Heuer.
Fred always joined our meetings and gave management our leeway excepting when he knew certain things would not pass muster with Pauline Chan in Hong Kong. Many times he wisely spared us that unneccessary confrontation. Ansco dominated the western and midwestern markets in those years. Fred's input to Haking was essential in establishing our market position.
On the humanitarian side Fred was always concerned about his team.. know on some occasions when some were having temporary financial difficulties he would find a way to help them thru, and facilitate a program of payback thru company payroll or commissions. He made sure that Ansco offered the best healthcare available for his employees I am extremely grateful personally that on two seperate times I had serious health issues, Fred personally made sure that I was in the best of care. Finding out on one occasion I had been hospitalized with a heart attack and subsequent bypass, and he found out I was in a 4 bed room, he pressured the hospital to upgrade me to a private room for the balance of an 18 day stay. A seemingly insignificant effort, shows the depth of his care.
I will always cherish those years with Fred and Ansco. They were a large segment of my commercial life.
My sympathies to Fred's wife Ophelia, his daughter Gloria and extended family.
I am comforted that he will be well received in the afterlife, God Bless,
George Summersby

I was very saddened to hear about the passing of Fred Wong, who played such an important part in my camera business life. I was the Midwest Regional Manager for Ansco Photo Optical and was headquartered in the home office, which was always bustling with new camera prototypes, packaging, sales sheets, promotions and trade shows.
I have always had a deep affection for Fred and will always remember his humor, kindness, and sense of family within an international company.
My condolences to his wife, Ophelia his daughter Gloria and her family and to the entire Wong family.
Until we meet again, Fred, God bless you.
Fondly,
Betsy Skibinski

I was saddened to learn today from Andrew Wong's message of Fred's passing. I fondly remember Mr. Fred Wong especially during the1990's - a golden era for Ansco cameras and the Haking group. It was made more exciting thanks to Fred's leadership in USA and the great team of people he assembled in Chicago. One of my highlights each year was the annual pilgrimage to the PMA show. I recall with affection Fred's warm friendship and hospitality not only when in the home base of Chicago but also in other cities including Las Vegas, Dallas, New Orleans. It was a joy to know Fred and I shall miss him but an indelible memory of his considerable generosity of spirit will never be erased.
I extend my sincerest condolences to Fred's family. I trust his family will draw comfort from their precious recollections of Fred as husband, father and uncle to his great family. I pray God's peace that surpasses all understanding will comfort the hearts of his family at this sad time of mourning and always.
With sincerest condolences,

Fred hired me to be his Western Sales Manager in 1990 while he was rebuilding his Sales Organization. I was very comfortable with his friendly and professional style from the start and could alway go to him if I had questions or problems.

We worked together until the company closed down and during all that time he was an honest and close friend as well as a strong mentor. He was alway interested in the welfare of his Ansco Family and took care and guided us when it was needed. Fred was the kind of Human Being that never ask for praise himself, but always was their to give praise when we where successful.

I will deeply miss Fred and want to express my condolences to his Wife and Daughter. He was highly respected in the Photo Industry and knew everyone far an wide. I will miss Fred as I would a family member.

Fred, God Bless and take you to Heaven.
Your memory will be with me always!

On Sunday morning, August 28th, I received a message from Andrew Wong that his Uncle had passed away. Wan-Huen Wong, also known by his many Business Associates as Mr. Fred W. Wong, or simply as Fred, by his Family, Many Close Friends and his Special Ansco Employees had passed and was now in a better place.

I was told he had been ill for quite ill for some time. I was shocked and so very sorry to hear about his passing.

I met Fred in 1990. Prior to joining Ansco, I spent many years working for a couple of International Fortune 500 Companies such as Fuji Photo Film and Konica USA. Both were very ridged and structured Company's. I soon learned Ansco was not. Ansco was a Family / Team Based Company. It was a refreshing atmosphere that stimulated achievement, growth and team work. Working with Frank Gruzewski, Fred Wong created an atmosphere where everyone played an important role within the Company and with contributions to the Company Goal and Growth.

I spent a lot of personal time, over the years, with Fred on Business trips to Troy, MI (Kmart), Bentonville AR (Wal*Mart), Minneapolis, MN (Target Stores), and several times to Hong Kong, Taiwan and China. He was always received as a very Special Guest by Customers and Revered by his Competitors. Always a savvy Businessman and always concerned about his Team, he always made sure he took care of his People.

Working for Fred occupied such a large part of my life and shaped my carrier in a way I could never have imagined. I thank him and I'll miss him deeply.

Fred, God Bless you and Rest in Peace
I'll never forget you!
