Wilfred Gallien Obituary

Wilfred J. Gallien of Schaumburg Funeral services for Wilfred J. Gallien, 75, will begin with prayers at 9:15 a.m. Friday, at Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Road), Bartlett, and proceed to St. Marcelline Church, where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Born Feb. 10, 1927, in Lynn, Mass., he died Monday, April 1, 2002. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Mr. Gallien was a very proud World War II and Korean War veteran and served as an officer for VFW Post #2202 for 12 years. He was very active in the Schaumburg community and the St. Marcelline Parish and was one of the founders of Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troop #195 in Schaumburg. Surviving are his wife, Frieda Gallien (nee Kohls); children, Dale (Linda) Gallien of Bartlett, Todd (Barbara) Gallien of Des Plaines, Cary (Janine) Gallien of St. Charles, Holly (Keith) York of Elgin, Adam (Angie) Gallien of Sugar Hill, Ga., and Neil (Donna) Gallien of Lawrenceville, Ga.; siblings Cecil Wheeler of Massachusetts, Adeline Bilmartin of Massachusetts, Marie Rosseau of New Hampshire, Robert Gallien of Massachusetts and Albert Gallien of Michigan; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia Gallien; parents, Theodore and Alice (nee Albert) Gallien; and sister Angie Whittier. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
