Chrystal Jackson Obituary

Chrystal Watson Jackson, 53, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. Born in Valparaiso, Indiana, Chrystal was the youngest of four children born to Darl and Jean Watson. With her parents, Chrystal moved from Indiana to Fayetteville, Alabama in 1972. In 1993, Chrystal married Leland Jackson of Tallassee, Alabama, and they had one son, Caleb Darl Jackson. Chrystal belonged to the Coosa Valley Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Sylacauga, Alabama - a woman of faith who loved the Bible and researching Bible "gems". Chrystal was the epitome of love and goodness. She always put others first, and she loved both deeply and completely. Chrystal tried not to focus on her life-long battle with various illnesses. Instead, she left behind countless testimonies of being an inspiration to others. Chrystal was an adventurous yet easy-going person. With a brilliant, artistic mind, she was also a creative cook and lover of great food. One of her favorite things to do was to share a good meal and a funny story with friends and family. Her sense of humor was unmatched. A writer of poetry, some of her most beautiful poems described persons beloved to her with extraordinary depth and emotion. She was known as the storyteller of the family, able to bring to life the grandest of imaginations and dreams, each story sprinkled with laughter, lessons and love. Chrystal brought light to the lives of those who knew her. Chrystal was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Jackson of Sylacauga, Alabama, her parents, Darl E. Watson and Jean S. Watson of Sylacauga, Alabama, and her sisters Edith Sarah Watson (twin), Sheila Watson Todd, and Patti Reeves Swanson. Chrystal is survived by her son, Caleb Darl Jackson, her nephew Michael Cory Reeves (Sally), her niece Stephanie Reeves Burch (Phillip), grandnephew Kirsten Michael Reeves (Rachel), grandnieces Jaden Leann Reeves and Isla Glynn Reeves, and great-grandniece Riley Jo Reeves. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coosa Valley Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 232 South Oak Ave., Sylacauga, AL 35151.

I worked with Chrystal at BankWare and FIS. We took many business trips together. She always wanted to eat at exotic places. She said you could get a hamburger at home. The best trip was to Grand Junction, CO. We rode up the mountains near us. We ran out of gas. We coasted all the way down the other side to a gas station. She talked me into digging up a cactus in the desert. Come to find out it was a Federal offense. We left it on a table at the hotel. I always made fun of her crops she planted. I felt it was an honor to have worked with her but, more importantly to have her as a friend.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Chrystal and I were very close friends all through school. She was the kindest and most loving person I´ve ever met. She brought so much joy into my life. I´ve attached pictures from a dinner we had a few years ago with some of the girls we went to school with. We shared lots of laughs. She loved telling all of us about how proud she was of Caleb and the man he was becoming. You are all in my prayers.

Thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of bereavement. I have fond memories of Chrystal from Fayetteville High School and later we worked together. She was always a loving person to me and highly intelligent.
