NEWCOMER , FREMONT J. "RED" Age 91 of Horseheads , NY went Home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday November 11 , 2016. Red was born January 12 , 1925 in Williamsport , PA the son of the late Fremont James and Letitia Schultz Newcomer . Red was a Veteran of World War II serving his country with the U.S. Army in Iwo Jima while assigned to The U.S. Marine Corps. He attended Lycoming College . Red married his wife , Lois E. Snyder Newcomer , on December 13 , 1947 and she pre-deceased him on December 15 , 2014 after 67 years of marriage . Mr. Newcomer was a retired auto parts salesman with Parts Supply Inc. in Elmira , NY . Red attended The First Baptist Church of Horseheads and was a founding member of The Calvary Baptist Church of Horseheads . In addition to his wife and parents , Red was pre-deceased by his brother William Newcomer ,sister and brother-in-law Margaret & Fremont Lowe , and brother-in-law Ray Snyder. Red loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them . Red is survived by his loving and devoted children : Sharon L. Newcomer and Kay J. Newcomer both of Horseheads , NY and Terry R. & Christie J. Newcomer of McClure , PA ; sister and brother-in-law : Tish & Ron Miller of Linden , PA ; sisters-in-law Shirley (Mrs. William) Newcomer of Williamsport , NY and Arlene (Mrs. Ray) Snyder of York , PA ; several nieces , nephews , cousins and a host of caring friends including his "breakfast and coffee buddies" . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Tuesday November 15 , 2016 from 6-8 PM and Wednesday November 16 , 2016 from 1-2 PM . Mr. Newcomer's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 2 PM. Chaplain Dave Knuppenburg will officiate. Red will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Lois in Maple Grove Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Newcomer .
