James Donald Danford

Funeral service for Mr. James Donald Danford, 82, of Sylacauga will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Reverend Wayne McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Danford passed away on January 17, 2016 at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home. Mr. Danford graduated from Weogufka High School and went on to serve nine years in the U.S. Army. He worked at Chrysler Space Division at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. He was the owner-operator of Walco Handi Mart for many years before his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents; James Walter and Amanda Bailey Danford; brother, James Walter Danford, and a sister, Ruth Cabaniss. He is survived by his spouse, Pat Ivey Danford of Sylacauga; children, Pam (Greg) Bolton of Sylacauga, Tina Danford of Gulf Breeze, FL, and Kim (Barry) Evans of Sylacauga; grandchildren, Katherine Nivens of Birmingham, Amy Nivens of Denton, GA, Rebecca Bolton of Birmingham, John (Abbie) Bolton of Huntsville, and Alex Evans of Sylacauga; great grandchildren, Zack and Wesley Kane; sister, Vickie (Braxton) Carpenter; brothers, Pete (Bobbie) Danford, and Rickey Danford. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20 from 12:00 until the funeral time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Greg Bolton, Barry Evans, Alex Evans, John Bolton, Zack Kane, and Brian Carpenter. The family would like to thank the staff of Bill Nichols State Veterans Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bill Nichols State Veterans Home Activity Fund, 1784 Elkahatchie Rd., Alexander City, AL 35010. Curtis and Son North Chapel will direct the service.
